about

And there it is: I managed to record "Ukumentals no. 2" in November 2021 just 6 month after I did "Ukumentals no. 1".
Somehow this album turned out to be an album full of dedications. Dedications to Christopher Davis-Shannon who really supported my music and motivated me to keep going as well as Hardy C. Lugerth who became a friend.
I also dedicate tunes to "ISO" Herquist, Roy Smeck and Herb Ohta-San.

This is meant to be a collection of musical "sketches or images", as if a painter would title his pieces of art.

I recorded the album within one full day at the studio of my old friend Christof Rose in Schöneiche (close to Berlin), my old hometown and the roots of my musical passion. Christof also did also the full production and mastering. We used a simple set up with two mics (one condenser for the room and a dynamic mic). The rest is Christof's magic.

I played the tracks in one take and added some additional layers of guitar (bass lines), percussions (some did Christof).
Enjoy

about

Jan Haasler Erfurt, Germany

My uke journey started in September 2020. The playing of Roy Smeck, Herb Ohta-San, Ukulelezaza and f.e. Corey Fujimoto (and many others) totally struck me all of a sudden i heard it last summer.
Many years I ignored the uke as a serious instrument being a guitar player since my childhood.
My journey is to get as much expression and distinctive creativity out of the soprano ukulele as possible.
